The textual changes still retain a certain historical flavour, perhaps to meet the needs of printers or their apprentices with less than up-to-date equipment, operation of the Wharfedale press is discussed in detail and although Monotype and Linotype composing machines are covered, the well-superseded Thorne, Hattersley, and Wicks composing-machines are all described. An eighth and final edition appeared in 1954 when it was surely the last printing manual to quote from Johnson's Typographica. £30.00
